  • Minimum 40 KGs weight is prescribed for Female Candidates.

Physical Efficiency Test (PET)

This test is only for qualified candidates in Documentation & PST. There will be a race in this test of qualifying nature.

  • Race –
  • Male – 4.8 KMs in 28 minutes.
  • Female – 2.4 KMs in 16 minutes.

Online Written Examination

Exam Pattern:- Online exam will be of 400 marks consisting of multiple choice questions.

    • There will be an objective type online test.
    • There will be total 160 questions of 2.5 marks each.
    • The test will consist of total 400 marks.
    • Time duration of test will be 02:00 hours (120 minutes).
    • There is no negative marking for any wrong answer.
    • The test will be available in both Hindi and English language except General Hindi part.

UGC NET Exam Pattern Details

On behalf of UGC, the National Eligibility Test (NET) is conducted for determining the eligibility of Indian nationals ‘only for Assistant Professor’ or ‘for Junior Research Fellowship and Assistant Professor both’ in Indian Universities and Colleges. Till recently, CBSE conducted UGC NET in 84 subjects at 91 selected cities spread across the country. From December 2018 onwards, UGC NET will be conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA).

Mode of Exam

  • Online i.e. Computer Based Mode.
  • Each candidate will be allocated their own desktop with a preinstalled software especially formed for the examination.
  • Make sure to check that the system and the mouse is working properly before starting the exam.

Nature of Questions

  • The questions in both the paper will be objective in nature.
  • This means, all the questions in UGC NET (December 2018) will be of Multiple Choice type (MCQs), having 4 choices.
  • Candidates must select the most appropriate answer.
  • The duration of Paper 1 is 60 minutes (1 hour) and Paper 2 is 120 minutes (2 hours)

Total Questions | Sections

  • Paper 1 will have 50 questions and Paper 2 will have 100 questions in total.
  • No restriction to move to and fro among the sections.
  • All the questions are compulsory to attempt

UGC NET Marking Scheme

  • A uniform marking system is followed in the exam i.e. for Paper 1 and 2, each correct answer carries + 2 marks.
  • As per the revised exam pattern of UGC NET Exam, there is no negative marking for any unanswered or incorrect answer.
  • Hence, instead of skipping a question, one can use their calculated guess and mark the answer.

UGC NET Syllabus

Syllabus for UGC NET varies are per the subject opted at the time of registration. A brief about both the papers are:

In UGC NET Paper I:
  • The questions will be generic in nature, intending to assess the teaching/research aptitude of the candidate.
  • It will primarily be designed to test reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking and general awareness of the candidate.
In UGC NET Paper II:
  • This will be based on the subject selected by the candidate.
  • All the questions of Paper II will be compulsory.
  • It is suggested to thoroughly revise all the topics of Bachelors and Masters syllabus.

Questions & Answer from the Passage, Title of the Passage, Letter Writing, Word Knowledge, Use of Words, Antonym, Synonym, One Word Substitutions, Sentence Correction & Idioms Phrases.

Law & Constitution:-

General Knowledge about Indian Constitution, Aim of Constitution, Fundamental Rights, Directive principles, Rules & Regulations of constitutional Amendments, All India Service, Information about social Law related to women, children, Reservation of SC/ ST, Environment, Wild Life Conservation, Human Rights, Traffic Rules, National Security Issues, Principle of Crime Punishment, Right of Self Defence, General Knowledge about Law.

General Knowledge :-

In this objective of questions about general knowledge of surrounding society of the candidates to test the awareness about surrounding activities. Questions will also be included towards a scientist sight and thinking which expected from an educated person. So, candidates should must focus on affairs about India and its adjacent countries too. Scientific Progress/Development, National/International Awards, Indian Languages, Books, Script, Capital, Currency, Sports-Athlete such as essential knowledge.

Numerical & Mental Ability Test:-

 

Numerical Aptitude:-

Number System, Simplification, Decimal & Fraction, HCF LCM, Ratio & Proportion, Percentage, Profit & Loss, Discount, Simple Interest, Compound Interest, Partnership, Time & Work, Distance, Use of Table & Graph, Mensuration & Miscellaneous.

Mental Ability Test:-

Questions will be from topics- Logical Diagrams, Symbol-Relationship Interpretation, Codification, Perception Test, Word formation Test, Letter and number series, Word and alphabet Analogy, Common Sense Test, Letter and number coding, Direction sense Test, Logical interpretation of data, Forcefulness of argument, Determining implied meanings.

Mental Aptitude Test/Intelligence Quotient Test/Test of Reasoning:-

 

Mental Aptitude Test:-

Public Interest, Law & Order, Communal Harmony, Crime Control, Rule of Law, Ability of Adaptability, Professional Information (Basic level), Police System, Contemporary Police Issues & Law and order, Basic Law, Interest in Profession, Mental Toughness, Sensitivity towards minorities and underprivileged & Gender sensitivity.

Intelligence Quotient Test:-
